Notable Knit-Alongs

My yarn and needles for the Wings of Horus Knit-Along arrived today! The KAL starts on Friday, and I'm getting very excited. A little anxious, too, though. I've never done a knit-along before, so I hope I can keep up. Though I've never participated in a KAL, I have joined one before. The Monthly Dishcloth KAL has lots of small, fun projects, and posts 2 dishcloths per month. Each day for about a week, a few rows of a pattern are delivered to your inbox, and at the end of each one, the complete file is posted on the site. There's no pressure at all, and when I have both the time and the cotton, I'll jump right in when a pattern strikes my fancy. The concept of a knit-along strikes me as a great idea, especially if you have any reservations about a project. Knowing that many other knitters are making the same thing at the same time, and having a central place where you can ask questions, gripe, and rejoice with people who care makes project anxiety lessen considerably. I poked around a little bit to see what other knit-alongs were out there. There is no end to choose from, but I wanted to show a couple that really caught my eye.
aeolian shawl
On Ravelry, there is a Knit-Along for the Aeolian Shawl which appears in the Spring issue of Knitty. Stunning piece, and fancier than anything in my wardrobe! I've got it marked for a possible future project.
Classic Lines Cardigan
If I hadn't already joined the Wings of Horus, I may have jumped in on the Classic Lines Cardigan KAL over at the Knit Picks Community. I have high anxiety about the whole concept of steeking, and I'll definately need a lot of support if I ever work up the nerve to do it! The three best places I've found for Knit-Alongs are Ravelry, KnitPicks, and The Lion Brand site. Are you in a KAL? Have you done a cool one in the past? Leave a comment and tell me about it! I'l love to hear more!
