My Ultimate Travel Goal

I have a dream. I want to visit all the National Parks. I even have a passport to record my visits: So far, I’ve been to Mammoth Cave and the Great Smoky Mountains. The crown jewel I’m aiming for, though, is to someday visit Yellowstone. There’s just something about the colorful thermal pools and geysers [...]

Resolutions? Sorta…

I’ve never been very good at New Year’s Resolutions, but I usually set some sort of goal for myself each year. This year, I’ve got two promising online goal systems in place. First is the Happiness Project Challenge: Every month has a different focus, and each week, a short video is posted with different tips [...]

Gearing up for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is less than a week away now. It’s almost time for Family, Football, Feasting, and Fun . We’ll be bringing one of the turkeys since my husband gets a turkey each year from work as a bonus. This is probably my favorite holiday. All the cheer, with half the stress of Christmas. I’m working [...]

A Halloween Scarf

I don’t get into Halloween like I used to when I was a kid. I guess it just doesn’t do anything for me when more people are now into the horror/gruesome aspect, rather than the silly costumed candy begging I grew up with. I’m not a total “Halloween Humbug”, though. In fact, I’m even knitting [...]

Musing about me, and what I’m about

The new Blog Carnival topic for the Etsybloggers is to talk about ourselves. This gave me pause at first, because I don't usually stop and think about me very much. I tend not to because I often end up dwelling on the bad stuff. I thought I'd give it a try, though, and "step out of myself" to come up with something more or less objective. It's a daunting task, trying to summarize yourself. I seem to boil down to two distinct traits, though. 1. I'm eclectic. Extremely eclectic. My parents were both teachers, so the love of learning was ingrained very early on. I could never pick just one thing to want to learn or do, though. I love drawing, painting, sculpting, potting, knitting, spinning, beading, photography, gardening, cooking, baking, canning, reading, piano, mandolin, animals, nature, hiking, geocaching, traveling, stamp collecting, astronomy, writing, computer gaming, etymology, HTML, National Parks, survey taking, and tons more things that aren't at the top of my head at the moment. You could take any random subject, and chances are that there is something about it that I want to learn. 2. I was never meant to be organized. Looking at the above, it doesn't take much to guess that my apartment is in disarray with books, supplies, etc. relating to the aforementioned interests. My job doesn't pay a lot, so rather than taking lessons or classes or the like, I do a lot of researching myself. Throw ADD into the mix, and you have a recipe to make sure no one ever sees the carpet and counter tops again. I complain sometimes, and I get down about it periodically, but when I really stop and think hard, I'm glad I'm this way. I get to experience a huge variety of things, and new discoveries are never far away. And since I'm blessed with a supportive husband who loves and puts up with me the way I am, how can it be a bad thing? Now, please excuse me. I have some research to do to find out what it takes to start raising my own silkworms...
