Knitting in varigated circles

Knitting in circles
Varigated yarn is lovely, but it can be fickle when knitting with it. A few weeks ago, I bought 800 yards of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport yarn handpainted in a gorgeous Black Purl colorway, and nigh immediately cast on for a cute fitted camisole, expecting a lovely mottled effect. Well, all was going peachy until I was almost finished with the first set of decreases:
odd camisole color repeats
The color repeats began to come together to form these kind of sideways chevrons. Then, when I began the increases, the chevrons changed direction, then eventually settled back into the mottled pattern I started out with. This band of dualing sideways chevrons falls right at the midsection, and I just don't know if this is going to work. Darn it, though! I'm NOT going to frog this! I'm desperate for an FO, it's been so long! I've learned from this, though. Unless the varigation is subtle, I'll stick to solids when knitting tops in the round. Though, I may experiment and knit one flat instead....
