Spring is in the Stash (Or, Going to Pot)

At this time every year, I feel like a thoroughbred at the gate. I see spring dead ahead, but I feel like I can't start my grandiose plans until the bell rings and the gate opens. The UFOs get swapped out along with the wardrobe. When the heavy clothes, thermal underwear, and flannel jammies go into hibernation, so do the unfinished afghans, bulky sweaters, and hats/scarves/etc. Away go the heavy worsteds and bulky yarns, and out come the fingerings and laces. Cotton outranks wool. But not just yet. Old Man Winter still has a few things left to say in the forty-first parallel. The lighter yarns and lightweight works in progress sit patiently, as do the seed packets and bags of potting soil. Yes, it's even too early to start my seeds indoors for spring planting on my balcony container garden. I keep working on the afghans and sweaters to keep me warm while I wait. So, here I sit, dreaming of the cotton cloths I'm going to knit for when I need to clean up after slicing the juicy tomatoes I'm going to grow. It's all in sight, I'm just waiting for the bell to ring and the gates to open...
