Tired of scarves, hats, and other similar one-skein projects to use up your stash? Why not knit up some baby clothes? Tiny sweaters, soakers, socks, bibs, and blankets are awesome stash busters!
I know what some of you are thinking, and you're wrong! You don't have to have (or even want) kids to knit kids clothes, blankets, and toys.
Think of this: At least once in our lives a family member, friend, or co-worker is going to have a baby shower, and many times, you don't have enough notice to knit something between the time you find out and the actual shower. Think how much easier things would be when you have something already made up, or at least in progress!
Now think of this: If you really don't have anyone you know to give baby items to, you can donate them to a local shelter, either for the homeless, or for battered women. Shelters are thrilled to get items for babies, especially something handmade with love. These are people who need love and care the most, and what better way is there to show someone you care about them than to make something by hand?
Free patterns for children's clothes are readily available practically everywhere. You probably have several on the ball bands in your stash. You can also poke around on Ravelry (you need to register, but it's free), or you can check out Knitting Pattern Central.
