Knitting on a budget can be frustrating, but if you put your mind to it, that frustration can lead to some pretty nifty ideas. When I work on a project that incorporates double knitting, I would always end up with the two balls of yarn twisted in a fierce fibery embrace, and have to separate them fairly often. I really wanted one of those special totes with compartments, but it just hasn't been within my budget.

I scrounged around at home for a while, searching for something I could use or alter that would serve the same purpose. A recent shopping trip had yielded a handled paper bag that appeared to be just the right size for my Halloween Star Scarf.
By slipping the balls of yarn into the bag via each handle, voila! The tangles now never reach down to the main balls of yarn, and all I have to do to untangle them is to spin the bag around a few times! (You have no idea how tempted I am to try setting it on a lazy susan while I knit...)
Now I have a great solution for my double knitting projects, and I didn't even have to put out any money or wait for any shipping! Have you come up with any homemade solutions to your knitting troubles? Tell me about it in the notes. I'd love to hear your stories!
